Downtown Summer Solstice Festival

Join us this year for the annual Downtown Summer Solstice Festival on June 17th from 12noon to 6:00pm! The Solstice Festival takes place on 4th Avenue between C St. and H St. It’s guaranteed fun for all ages! It’s FREE to attend and is a great opportunity to have some fun in the sun with family and friends.

The Downtown Summer Solstice Festival is a great opportunity to bask in the solstice sun and participate in one of Anchorage’s most highly anticipated summer events!

DOWNTOWN SUMMER SOLSTICE FESTIVAL COMPONENTS

  • Hero Games
    A friendly competition between Alaska’s first responders, participants will be charging through obstacle courses, bucket brigades, and different relays. Hero Games will take place on 4th Ave from C to D st. The U.S. Army, U.S. Airforce, U.S. National Guard, Anchorage Police Department & Fire Departments, and other first responders throughout the state will be competing this year and Uptown Athletic will be helping to facilitate! This competition will take place from 12noon – 3:00 pm. Who will win this year?? Watch the competition or find out at the Awards ceremony promptly after the tug-o-war at 3:00 pm! iHeart Media will be bringing their DJ to pump it up with a live emcee, some fantastic music & fun.
  • D St. Chalk Walk
    Watch while wonderful chalk art is sketched out before your eyes on D St! Feel free to grab a piece or two of chalk and help in the fun. The International Gallery of Contemporary Art will be there helping to create beautiful works of art!
  • Musher’s Corner
    Celebrate the Summer Solstice with Fur Rondy at 4th & D!
    Alaska Cornhole Association will be there with Cornhole available for all – beginners and experienced welcome! Meet the Mushers & Dogs from Alaskan Sled Dog Racing Association and take photos! All of the action takes place at 4th & D at the Rondy Cornhole & Mushers Corner at Solstice! There’s also food available in this zone.
  • E St.
    Come on down to E St. between 5th and 3rd Ave. for the Wild Scoops Ice Cream Social or give blood at the Alaska Blood Bank LIFEmobile. Talk about a big draw! Blood draw that is! This is an opportunity to give blood and learn more about the Blood Bank’s new location & other initiatives. Go grab a beer at the Hard Rock Café Beer Garden when you’re done!
  • Peratrovich Park
    Rock out with us at the Peratrovich Park on the corner of 4th Ave & E St to enjoy music, food, and a frothy beverage in the Hard Rock Café Beer Garden on E St. There will also be performances from Alaska Native dancers. Other live music stages will be scattered throughout the festival.

  • Tourist Lane
    Bring your kids to take a paddle around our kayak pool and check out a variety of vendors and booths at Tourist Lane on 4th Ave. between D & F St. There will also be food vendors in this area. Stop on by to say hello to Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. here.
  • Street Fair Foods
    Walking this festival can create an appetite for some good eats! Enjoy delectable treats at the Street Fair Foods Zone located between 5th and 3rd Ave. Local Alaskan chefs and trucks will be featuring some of their favorite offerings. Be sure to stop at the Street Fair Foods when you get hungry!
  • Solstice Market
    Check out this awesome NEW component to Solstice on 4th Ave. between F and G St. – farmers and growers will feature and sell locally sourced and grown items. There’s also live music located in this zone.
  • AK Arts Zone
    Alaskan arts & crafts will be showcased here in the AK Arts Zone on G St. between 5th and 4th Ave. Beautiful pieces of art & various goods sold by local art vendors will be available here for your purchase. Enjoy a beer at the Darwin’s Theory beer garden in the AK Arts Zone as well. There’s also a first aid/lost person station in this zone for your convenience.
  • Beer Garden Stage
    This is a great opportunity to sit back in the sunshine, sip on a beverage and enjoy live and local music at the Pedal and Spokes Stage on G St between 4th and 3rd Ave! There are two beer gardens in this zone for your refreshment hosted by 49th State Brewing Company and Gaslight Lounge!

  • btyDENTAL Kids’ Zone
    Families – this section is a MUST see and a great way to entertain your kiddos! The Kids’ Zone takes up the blocks between G and H St and 5th and 3rd Ave. The zone includes a free petting zoo, bounce house, balloons, bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles, Steven’s Puppets, and various games from Tons ‘o Fun Entertainment and Alaska Bungee Bounce. Be sure to check out the kids kayak pool in Tourist Lane!
