Van Gogh Alive – Currently at Anchorage Museum
Van Gogh Alive is an interaction of sight, sound and sensation now at the Anchorage Museum. Surrounded by images of Van Gogh’s work and quotes from his many letters to family and friends and filled with the sounds of music from Van Gogh’s lifetime this display stimulates the mind and senses.
One doesn’t need to be familiar with Van Gogh’s work or history to enjoy this thought provoking sensation. You are given the chance to learn about his history, where he lived, what he painted at each stage of his brief life.
It was interesting to hear the influences that impacted Van Gogh’s style and the colors that spoke to him. To compare what he was painting to what was popular at the time.
To know that Van Gogh’s paintings were not appreciated in his time and that he only painted for 10 years of his life.
The images of Van Gogh’s brilliant talent accompanied by music that moves apace with the transforming images moving around the observer.
This display is educational, emotional and inspirational.
