Anchorage Downtown Placemaking

Join Anchorage Downtown Partnership in our efforts to bring positive energy and use to downtown’s parks and public spaces through Anchorage Downtown Placemaking!

Placemaking is a concept that focuses on bringing positive energy and events into the existing public space assets in our community. The Downtown Partnership hopes to facilitate collaborative use of these spaces through inspiration, coordination and reducing existing barriers to entry.

To kick off Summer 2018, Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. is partnering this summer with Alaska Zumba Events to bring you Lunch Hour Zumba, a 13 week series of free Zumba classes in Town Square, Tuesdays 12-1pm. We also are partnering with Anaya Latin Dance, to bring Sunday Salsa in the Park, a 9 week series of free social Rueda de Casino style latin dances.

Now it’s your turn! We have created a program that allows space activation programming to more easily fill the downtown parks: Town Square, Peratrovich and the 5th Ave Rooftop Park, as well as other empty public spaces in downtown: alleyways, vacant store fronts, street corners, etc. You provide the programming, idea or event, we help take care of equipment and logistical needs, as well as offer our expertise in navigating permit requirements, promotion and marketing at an additional cost.

Host a company picnic or small concert, throw a small party or gathering with games and music, or even showcase your business or organization. Take advantage of all that downtown Anchorage has to offer!

Check out all the Placemaking options here: Anchorage Downtown Placemaking.

Contact Rosie Frankowski at rfrankowski@anchoragedowntown.org or 907-279-5650 for additional information or to get started on your Placemaking activity today!
