Our goal is to create a clean, safe, and vital downtown. We need your help to do that. If you see maintenance or safety issues downtown, please use the links and resources below to the agency responsible for fixing those issues, and if the issue isn’t immediately resolved, please call us as well, so we can advocate together for a clean, safe, and vital downtown.

Development Resources

  • The Municipality of Anchorage passed a new residential tax incentive in 2025, which provides up to 30 years of property tax abatement (including an extra 5 years for all parcels within downtown). The Municipality is currently developing a FAQ and other resources for this program, which will be posted publicly soon. In the meantime, here’s the full text of the ordinance as passed.
  • Some downtown redevelopments have also utilized the Deteriorated Property tax exemption (see Municipal code 12.35.050).
  • Some downtown redevelopments have utilized the C-PACER energy efficiency program.

Maintenance Resources

If you notice public facilities that have maintenance needs, please follow the links below to find the responsible entity and make a maintenance request. Please keep us in the loop as well, so that we can help you follow up on the request and help connect you to the right point of contact to get it taken care of.

  • Light Poles: See light poles that are broken or not lit? Please see this Street Maintenance website which has a map of light poles downtown by ownership (light poles downtown are owned by the Municipality, State of Alaska, or Chugach Electric) and contact information for each of those light pole owners.
  • Snow Removal: For more information on downtown snow removal roles and responsibilities, please see our snow removal page. For snow removal questions on public right of way (streets and alleys), please contact the Municipality’s Street Maintenance Department. For questions about snow removal on sidewalks, please contact us.
  • Right Of Way Issues: If you see unlawful dumping or encroachments in the right of way, please start by giving us a call! Most of the time, our Ambassadors can remove the item. For larger items (like concrete blocks) that we can’t remove, please use AncWorks to report the right of way issue.
  • Abandoned Vehicles: Please visit this link and navigate to the Parking section for APD’s junk vehicle hotline number.
  • Issues on Private Property: If you notice camping, abandoned vehicles, or trash/litter on private property, it is the responsibility of the private property owner to correct the issue and secure their property. We can help you make contact with the private property owner to inform them of what’s happening, and to work with them to address the issues. To identify the property and the owner, please use the Muni’s property information map to identify the parcel. If the parcel is owned by a corporation, and we don’t already know the owner, we will use the State of Alaska’s business license or corporation search to try to identify the property owners. Any contact information you have for the property owner, neighbors of the property, or tenants of the property is also helpful to pass along.
  • See an issue with a public facility or piece of infrastructure that’s not listed above, or having trouble with any of the above links? Please give us a call so we can help you get the maintenance issue fixed.
