TRICK OR TREAT STREET
The Anchorage Downtown Partnership, Ltd. (ADP) invites you to a FREE month-long Halloween celebration that includes a Virtual Costume Contest and month-long Scavenger Hunt. Our in-person event on Halloween Day has been canceled in light of the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in Anchorage.
In an effort to support our local downtown businesses and keep the Trick or Treat Street tradition alive, our new delivery model for Trick or Treat Street provides the space for entertainment while increasing physically distanced traffic downtown throughout the entirety of the month. By adding a virtual element to Trick or Treat Street we hope to include at-risk individuals who are unable to be in public settings, and to give everyone a chance to show off their costumes!
For the Scavenger Hunt, businesses put together Halloween window art/displays with clues for the scavenger hunt throughout the month of October. The map highlights participating businesses. A symbol has been placed next to the business on the map that scavenger hunters must look for in order to get the clue. These clues consist of Halloween ornaments with a “letter” embedded in them. Participants will receive a stamp on their map card for each letter they find at each location. Once participants have completed the entire scavenger hunt, cards will be collected at participating businesses and entered into a drawing to win four roundtrip Alaska Airlines tickets – anywhere Alaska Airlines flies with a total value of $3,600 – purchased by December 1st. Participating businesses include the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson, Bottoms Up Boutique, Madmen Studios, Apricot Lane, Second Run Consignment, Dark Horse Cafe, Skinny Raven Sports, International House of Hotdogs, Uncle Joe’s Pizzeria, 49th State Brewing, Once in a Blue Moose, Visit Anchorage, and Sara’s Gift Cache.
For the Virtual Costume Contest, participants can join the fun by posting a picture in costume on our Facebook Event page or on Instagram tagging @DowntownAnchorage, don’t forget to #TrickORTreatSTREETanc or emailing their pictures to email@example.com Age categories are birth to 2, 3-10, 11-17, 18 & up. Participants will have a chance to win gift cards for downtown businesses.
